I will be a powerful voice for Colorado's hard-working families -- families who work to pay their mortgage, put their children through college, care for their aging parents or grandparents, and want something to show for it when they retire. I've been a tireless advocate for families and the issues they face all of my adult life, and I am ready to take that challenge to our State Capitol.

When I was a kid, before we did any chores, my dad would tell us we needed to bring one important "secret ingredient" to the task -- elbow grease. The first time he said that, I searched the cupboards for a bottle, and he laughed, knowing it was invisible to the naked eye. "Elbow grease", he explained, "is hard work". Nothing gets done without it, and everyone has it available to them in abundance. We just have to find it within ourselves, and use it. "Use a lot of it", he'd tell us.

In my community involvements, I've used a lot of elbow grease -- working hard side by side with Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike, knowing that at the end of the day, we all want the same thing -- what's best for our families. It's possible to build economic security for a stronger and more secure middle class, provide jobs and services for those who need them, strengthen our public schools, have safe neighborhoods, and protect our land, air and water -- but only when we are willing to put aside politics, roll up our sleeves, and work together. I'm ready to do just that, with your support.

Here are some of the issues I'm anxious to get started on after I'm elected:
